Individual Leases
Individual leasing means peace of mind for you. Your financial responsibility is only for your student’s space unlike many apartments or rental houses where a joint lease is signed. If a roommate transfers to another school or moves out of PRISMA for any reason, you do not have to worry about having to cover their portion of rent. This is just another reason why PRISMA is your student’s best housing option!
On-site Professional Staff
Our maintenance staff will respond to your student’s maintenance issues quickly and professionally. PRISMA offers 24-hour emergency maintenance as well so that your student’s comfort is not affected.
Brand New Apartments
PRISMA has six spacious floor plan options so they will easily be able to find one to suit their needs. We have four-bedroom apartment homes. They each have their own bedroom. Your student’s rent includes water, sewer, trash, basic cable, Wi-Fi, internet, furniture and so much more!
Fully Furnished
PRISMA is a fully-furnished community, saving you money! Each student will have a XL Twin or Full Size bed, end table, large desk and chair, dresser and mirrored closet. The living area comes with a comfortable couch, chair, coffee table, end tables, TV stand with a flat screen HDTV and barstools. The kitchen comes fully equipped with energy efficient appliances, including a refrigerator, dishwater and microwave. There is also stackable washer & dryer and central heat and A/C in every unit!
Roommate Matching
If your student does not have a roommate in mind, we can find them one! Each roommate will fill out a Roommate Matching form so that we know what they are looking for in a roommate. During the summer, we spend weeks looking at these preferences and matching them up with the best person we can find!
Resident Events to Keep Students Involved
While the main focus of your student’s college career will be about graduating and getting a fulfilling job, they also need to have fun along the way. At PRISMA, your student will create life-long relationships and connections that will make them even more successful. Our great staff plans monthly resident events to get them involved. These events range from pizza parties, karaoke nights and even resume building classes. We will also keep our residents connected to events going on at San Diego State University, as well as events happening around town so they don’t miss anything! We want your student to succeed, and that’s why we thought of them while designing PRISMA as a Living-Learning environment!
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the rent?
PRISMA rent includes: utilities (water, sewer and trash pickup), cable, internet, full size washer and dryer, access to all of PRISMA’s amenities and a full-service staff including 24-hour maintenance.
When is my rent due?
Rent is paid according to an installment plan. You may choose to make payments monthly which are due on the 1st of the month or also pay ahead of time. As frequently as you would like, payments up to the amount of $5,000.00 are able to be made in order to account for upcoming rent. Please note that these are all installment payment options and not monthly rent.
How do I pay my rent?
At PRISMA we offer multiple ways for you to apply your installment payments. You can pay in the office with a personal check, or certified funds like a money order or cashier’s check. You may also pay online through the Resident Portal (service & convenience fees apply). Most financial institutions also offer automatic bill pay. Check with yours to see if it does.
Do you allow pets?
We do not allow pets at PRISMA.
Does my lease provide coverage for my belongings?
PRISMA’s insurance will not cover your personal belongings in the event of a fire, theft or natural disaster. We require Renter’s Insurance for this reason. If a resident has not provided proof of insurance, they will automatically be enrolled in our Tenant Limited Liability Program and charged a monthly fee to cover this cost.
What if I need to break my lease or don't return for the spring semester?
PRISMA’s lease is binding and cannot be broken. If you cannot live at PRISMA after signing your lease, you will need to re-let. Please call the leasing office for information on re-letting.
What if I need maintenance in my bedroom or apartment?
If you need maintenance, simply go to your Resident Portal on our website or the ResidentPortal app on your phone and fill out a maintenance request. You may also call or visit the front desk. If it is an emergency, please notify the front office immediately.
What furniture is provided?
Each apartment at PRISMA includes a furnished living area with a comfortable couch, chair, coffee table, end table and a 42″ TV. The kitchen comes fully-equipped with energy efficient appliances, a refrigerator, dishwasher, and each unit includes a laundry area with full size washer & dryer. Bedrooms are equipped with either a full-size or twin XL bed and an end table.
What do I need to bring to my new apartment?
We suggest that you bring:
- Bedding
- Toiletries
- Dishes/Cookware
- Any decorations or personal belongings to make your new room feel like home!
What kinds of events do you have at PRISMA?
At PRISMA, our staff plans monthly resident social events for fun and networking opportunities. These events range from pizza parties to grocery bingo, from résumé building classes to gaming tournaments. We also keep our residents connected to SDSU-sponsored events, as well as events happening around town so they don’t miss a thing!
